Service Description
Improve your Italian language skills with authentic texts this Summer at Per Tutti! COMIC: "DIABOLIK" (giallo a fumetti) DATES: Thursdays from June 25 until July 23 TIME: 6:00-7:30 pm PROFESSOR: Angelo Mariano Using comics to teach a language works extremely well, because comics give you context + visuals + spoken-style language at the same time. Speech bubbles also keep input short enough for easy comprehension. Diabolik is one of Italy’s most famous fumetti (comics). It was created in 1962 by sisters Angela Giussani and Luciana Giussani. Diabolik is not a superhero — he is an antihero and master thief. He is intelligent, ruthless, highly skilled in disguises, and carries out elaborate robberies while evading the police. Main characters: Diabolik — mysterious criminal genius. Eva Kant — his partner and equal; one of the most iconic female characters in Italian comics. Inspector Ginko — the police inspector constantly pursuing him. Why it matters in Italian culture: Diabolik helped define the “giallo a fumetti” (“mystery comic”) genre in Italy — crime stories, with a depiction of Italian culture and idiomatic expressions.
